About the class

Students in this Class do both Ballet and Jazz

Ballet is the foundation of all dance styles.  Our classes include exercises to increase strength, posture, technique, musicality and performance.  All students are encouraged to use both a variety of classical styles and their own imaginations, energising and motivating them no matter their age or ability.  We follow the IDTA syllabus ladder from Preparatory through to the Vocational Graded Examinations.

Jazz is an umbrella term referring to several related dance styles, so we use a wide variety of music in class to cover lyrical jazz, modern jazz and street dance.  Students learning this upbeat and funky style of dance will be taught how to isolate, pirouette, body roll and high kick, all with a strong sense of performance!  The opportunity to participate in shows and Medal Examinations is offered to all students when they are considered ready, but taking part is not mandatory for successful progression.
